Playlist For Sunday, April 14, 2019: Every Day A Little...dance break!

I guess I should have dreamt up this playlist in November, that dank tarn of Auber sort of month, with all the leaves crisp-ed and sere and dead. But it's been pretty tarn-y around here lately, with Spring mucking about most of the time, Weir-y and sans blossoms. Even the dead limbs on my trees are (presently) being trimmed away by men with buzzing saws...All this to explain this Sunday's theme: Broadway Death!

Yup, lots of death and dying on Broadway, but most of it with tap breaks! The Grim Reaper with a top hat and cane, shuffling off to Perdition in a kick line with Charon! THAT sorta death, okay? No down in the dumps death here...well, maybe a couple of poignant farewells, but that's just to add variety. We'll also do some GONE and some GOODBYE, then lighten it all up with Shrek (!?) and Kate (of Kiss Me!)...so a good time will "shirley" be had by all. :)

(Oh, and lest I forget: Sondheim Sings Sondheim...I've just discovered that SS made recordings of him SINGING his own songs. I had to have it! So prepare: you'll have to put up with his sometimes-out-of-tune renditions of rejects and also-rans and gems.)

Of course by the time this Sunday gets here, it'll probably be sunny and 70 and the cherry trees will be obnoxiously in bloom. None of this will make any sense at all. But remember then that it was a tarny Tuesday when this playlist was birthed. So deal. :)
