Three New-ies! Well, they're at least younger than me!

 Newsies hit Broadway in 2012,
produced by Disney Productions and based on the 1992 musical film,
all about the Newsboys Strike of 1899 in NYC.
Al Menken (of Little Shop of Horrors/Little Mermaid/and so many other
shows) did the music and Jack Feldman, the lyrics.
On book was Harvey Fierstein.
Some of the film's songs were used, others created specifically for the
staged production.
Above, Capathia Jenkins as Medda Larkin, and her song "That's Rich".

Above center is Jeremy Jordan as Jack,
and to his left Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie.
Ben Brantley of the New York Times said,
"Mr. Feldman’s lyrics are spot-on, while the melody reminds us just how charming a composer Mr. Menken...can be."
 Jeremy with Kara Lindsay,
who plays "cub" reporter Katherine Plumber.
(She's also played Glinda in Broadway's Wicked.)

Once, which used the cast as the orchestra
(that musta saved some dough...well, they actually had to act/play/dance
at the same time. And well!).
Best Musical Tony award back in 2012,
with music by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.
Below, the original leads:
Steve Kazee and Cristin Milioti.

 Next To Normal.
A mentally-ill mom who thinks her dead son is still present.
Alice Ripley's performance earned her a Tony.
Above with Aaron Tveit as said son and J. Robert Spencer as her husband.
Below with cake.
(Well, if he's there in Act 1, he should have a cake in Act 2, right?
I'm being mean.)
Music Tom Kitt, Lyrics Brian Yorkey...Best Musical of 2009!
