Playlist For Sunday, September 24, 2023: Easy Does It!

Sooooo I've successfully landed in Adulting Land. Having avoided my To Do List for approximately most of the summer, this week's calendar says I have about 17 dreary appointments/commitments to attend to. Everything from dental to occular to accountancy and back again. Why did I schedule all of this in one week? Talk about ruining what remains of September. This sucks. If I make it to Sunday night, I'll definitely need a massage, a mai tai, and a mitzvah. Maybe not in that order.

I've never actually had a Mai Tai. I hear good things.

To avoid toooo much adulting, Fantasy Kim is planning another trip or 7. For instance, a bike trip for 2024 (once the sciatica has faded, of course). Or an NYC jaunt? To see a show or 7? Let's take a look at what's "on".

....The oldies (still up, if leaning on their walkers in some cases): Chicago, The Book Of Mormon, Hamilton, Wicked, Aladdin, Moulin Rouge, Hades Town, Sweeney and his Todd, The Lion King (Will it never die?)

...The middle-aged: MJ, Kimberly Akimbo, Shucked, Some Like It Tepid

...The brand spanking new: Gutenberg! The Musical! (I guess you can tell this is Fun! And! Exciting!), Back To The Future (this is scary)

With Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells...late of Mormon!

Man. I guess the Gutenberg hype is working on me, because I would actually SEE this. I've heard "adorable" whispered. An adorable musical. The last time I saw so many exclamation marks in a title, it was a.) Something Rotten!, b.) Hello, Dolly!, and c.) She Loves Me! (but they removed that mark sometime between Preview 1 and Preview 2). Hmmmmm....is Gutenberg worth an almost $500 flight, a fancy schmancy hotel stay, annnnnd chocolate cheesecake at John's on 12th? (Anything for that!)

Actual John's cheesecake pictured above.
See what I mean?

Well, until I get there, 2 On The Aisle MUST fill the bill. So to assuage this responsibility-laden week, let's "Take It Easy" on Sunday...with easy and simple Broadway tunes. Easy To Love, Easy Street, Simple Folks, and Simple Joys. Plus a little Fosse corner (or 7), and we'll also let Anthony Newley overwhelm us (happy ethereal BD!). Let's plane the hard edges, enliven the hum and the drum, and get to SUNDAY! :)
