Brain droppings on a dank-tarn-of-a-day in January:
1.) Danny Kaye was a knight and a king...knighted by Denmark, "kinged" by Brooklyn. Not too shabby for a high school drop out.
2.) I don't think I'm "taking down" Christmas this year. These light strings and village set-ups and RED ribbons are all too pretty to remove. I'll just keep 'em all up. No one will notice.
3.) Note to self: Senior Discount at Goodwill happens on Wednesdays. Not Tuesdays. Put it on the calendar. (I mean it: $2.00 vs $4.00 for a jump suit. With spangles. Who could resist?)(And, no...they don't card me.)
4.) Should I buy a Fit Bit? One of those highfalutin' watches that keep track of your steps? I sure as heck walked 5 miles a day when I was in Philly (and NYC) last time. Of course, all that walking was off set by the cheese steaks consumed. And gin. Nahhhh...my OCD mind can count 1 block of steps and multiply by...what, 57??
4.) Never pack a suitcase so full that you can't lift it BY YOURSELF. (And no, the weight of your bag should not be used as an excuse to ask a tall dark stranger to help you. The ones who notice me at this stage of the game are weaker than I am.) Also remember that the fewer clothes you take, the more you can BUY once you're "there". Annnnnd you can always ship all those new goodies back via some sort of mail, not stuff 'em in your suitcase. (I also in no way trust handles. Or zippers. The entire thing will break or explode if I add one more vintage blazer. Samsonite, where ARE YOU?)
Hardly profound, but then again I did call these "droppings".
More profound (perhaps) is this week's playlist. Because speaking of steps, we're going to Walk, Run, Jump, Shake, Fly, and Sail through 2 hours of Broadway. Yup, locomotion is our theme of the day, or as I like to think of it: The Run, Don't Walk Edition of 2 On The Aisle.
Like Walking Happy, Runnin' Wild, Shakin' The Blues Away, Let's Go Fly A Kite, and Sail Away... and that reminds me. I will indeed be locomoting away (again) for the month of February. The Gritty City calls me (and Upstate NY says go ahead, get outta here), so off I'm flying. I'll be back LIVE on March 5...but meanwhile recorded versions will broadcast out to you for 4 non-LIVE Sundays. Hopefully, you won't even be able to tell the difference.
Meanwhile, let's walk happy. And get somebody else to carry the damn luggage.
