Let's not talk about anything else but LOVE! (or maybe chocolate, everybody loves chocolate!)

Carl Switzer and Darla Jean Hood.
Carl (age 6) and his brother Harold (8) were hired by
Hal Roach to appear in the Our Gang series, back in 1935.
A year later, Carl was a main character, Alfalfa;
Harold now part of the "crowd", and dubbed Slim or sometimes
Deadpan!
Darla also joined up in 1935 (she was only 4!).
Longevity-wise, neither of these love birds scored high:
Darla passed away at the age of 47,
Carl at 31 (a gun/knife fight).

We simply have to hear from Minnie's boys...
"Everyone Says I Love You"
from Horsefeathers, 1932.
Thelma Todd was the object of everybody's affection,
and the password "Swordfish" got a lotta laughs.
Music: Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby.

Here's a couple of MGM stars,
breaking their diets,
but ain't it worth it if you're with Clark Gable?
This was 1937, the party where 15 year old Judy Garland sang
"You Made Me Love You" to CG
and impressed all the right people,
enough to get her AND the song into
Broadway Melody of 1938.
The song was actually written back in 1913 for Al Jolson to sing in
The Honeymoon Express,
then tweaked with a "Dear Mr. Gable" opener for Judy.
Annnnd brought back again for 1973's Broadway revival of Irene!
(It gets around.)

"My Funny Valentine"
seems like it's from Pal Joey, right?
That's wrong in 17 different ways.
It was originally from Babes In Arms,
a Rodgers and Hart Broadway show done in 1937.
The movie musical version, released 2 years later, with
Mickey R. and Judy G.,
did not include the song.
But Pal Joey (the film version, 1957) called and zzzzzippp,
in went "Valentine".
More wrong-ness:
a.) It's not about a Valentine's Day sweetheart, and
b.) Kim Novak doesn't sing it; she was dubbed by Trudy Stevens.
(And just TRY TO FIND a pic of Trudy! Man!)

Two of my Valentine favorites here:
Shirley Booth, above, singing
"Love Is the Reason" from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn,
and Don Ameche, below,
with "I Can't Be In Love"
from Goldilocks.
Damn, do they still make suits like that?

Recording the Goldilocks cast album
(first problem for that flop: The Name!?!?!?),
Don and his leading lady, Elaine Stritch.

Laura Benanti (in fetching PJs) and Zachary Levy
in the revival of She Loves Me.
Hey, is that ice cream or Chinese food?
We'll hear Zach's rendition of the title song.
(BTW, do you recognize him from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel?)

Christopher Fitzgerald and Kimiko Glenn
love each other like "Tables"
in Waitress.
On Christopher's CV is Young Frankenstein, Finian's Rainbow,
and Sondheim's Saturday Night.
Kimiko's done 5 years of
"Orange Is The New Black" and made several television appearances.
