Playlist For Sunday, July 21, 2019: Boswells and Roz-wells

 It's a rainy day in Kendall (like a rainy night in Georgia, without the peach fuzz), a momentary lull in the heyday of summer heat, perhaps, if not the humidity...now that we're about half way through summer. Half way? Wait, it just stopped snowing a couple of weeks ago! Yeah, but Upstate. Yeah, but Vicissitudes (remember them? The One Hit Wonder of 1982? Me neither).

Speaking of rain, the Lawn Chair Ladies paraded thru their first rainy event last Thursday, and came out of it looking like 20 Grizzabellas, with dripping feathers, ruined mascara, but "pie in the sky" hopes of winning (again) and win we did! Frankly, my dear, it was kinda fun. The crowds that remained to watch us were, despite Le Deluge, happy as hell to applaud and go Woo Hoo. So there's that!

How I came up with this playlist, which should probably be named "Vicissitudes 17" ( or 117, as there have been lists like this before), although that reminds me of Audrey II, or Oceans 11, or Farenheit 4,557: Firstly, I'm a recent convert to Grand Hotel, slowly making friends with that show (after what? 30 years?)...we're having coffee next week, taking it slow...And then I got into an Al Menken/Howard Ashman funk...what if they hadn't gotten Disney-fied? Which led me (in 5 or 6 degrees) from Feed Me to Danny Devito. And from there, a natural leap to Liliane Montevecchi, of course, and Boswells and Roz-wells and Spelling Bees (and other insects) and shimmying like my sister Kate! But of course all these links are pretty weak. In other words, there is no ARC, there is no connection, there is no Profound in this list. What can I say. It's a stroll down Broadway. Watch the speed bumps and carry a large umbrella and I'll try harder next week. :)
