It's that "hearts and flowers" time of year again, Broadway-philes. Valentines Day looms, with its over-priced posies, hard and soft caramel centers, and a thumbed-nose salute (or pity party) for all who (like those little piggies) "have none." So I have to belly up to the Love Bar, and play The Songs.
Thankfully, Broadway offers a LOT of love songs (in fact, aren't most songs about love in some way? Want it, need it, can't have it, lost it, it's around here somewhere, I put it RIGHT there on the shelf and now it's GONE kinda love songs?). Broadway also has funny, snarky, pithy love songs (forget it, I'm not in love, how can I be in love, never gonna be in love, to hell with YOU, Love!), so I'll be playing a balance of perspectives on this achy-breaky emotion, with a mere modicum of sap. Your teeth really shouldn't ache at the end of it.
Plus I've tossed my cane! Don't worry, it wasn't one of those Fred Astaire classy models (otherwise, I'd hobble with it forever, in the appropriate-to-cane fashion of white tie and tails). Nope, it was one of those medical-purposes-only canes. Didn't do a thing for my look. But my new titanium hip no longer requires it, so I can leave Festus behind and return to my suave, sophisticated "spring". Of course if I fall over mid-broadcast, send hearts/flowers/soft centers to 2 On The Aisle!
