Playlist for Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018: And if you call in the next 15 minutes, I'll throw in the bad wine!

The following Broadway facts and figures are brought to you by a 2 On The Aisle Fan (and inspiration! Thanks, John!):

During the 2017-18 season, shows on Broadway counted 13.8 million admissions.

*38% of those attendances were by people from the NYC metropolitan area.

*63% were tourists: 48% from the US, outside of NYC; 15% from outside the US.

*The average age of theatregoers was 40.6 years and 66% were female.

*2.1 million under-18 theatregoers (1.65 million in the prior season) marked a record high.

*81% of the over-25 year olds had completed college; 41% had graduate degrees.

*The average annual household income of Broadway theatregoers was $222,120.00.

*The average Broadway theatregoer attended 5 shows; those who attended 15 or more performances comprised only 5.5% of the audience, but they bought 31% of the tickets.

*Playgoers were more frequent Broadway attendees than are fans of musicals. Typical straight-play attendees saw nine shows in the past year, while musical attendees saw four.

First of all, I'm depressed! I feel like I'm living well to the left (the negative side of the number line) of the Broadway Poverty Line, if I'm SUPPOSED to be making a 6-figure income to see these shows. That's why 2 On The Aisle is such a bargain. Heck, if you're a $90.10 member of this radio station, think of the dough you're saving...more than 50 Broadway show performances coming at you over the air waves over the course of a year. You couldn't buy enough NYS wine or intermission nonpareils to last you 2.5 live performances for that price.

The attendance of under 18 year olds is heartening (thanks, Lin Manuel! thanks, Evan! thanks SpongeBob?), but I'll bet none of those "kids" bought their own tickets. Look around at the next GEVA or RBTL or RPO, and you'll mostly see people of a certain age (okay, yes, I'm a certain age too, so I KNOW!)(maybe an errant 25 year old. They'll be related to me.), cuz we're the ones with the disposable income (if not the disposable time) for a Porsche and Private Lives. The cost of a ticket required to witness LIVE performances of Hamiltons and Fair Ladies and Kongs will be Broadway's death knell. It really pisses me off.

So HERE'S SOME FREE STUFF: Guys and Dolls (Nathan style!), Kiss Me Kate (Alfred! Howard! Brian S and M!), Elaine (she never died, she fermented), Patti and Noel and all things bright and beautiful! Bask in Broadway, one way or another. I'll ante up for the nonpareils. And the bad wine. XO
