Born in 1888, Maurice Auguste Chevalier was born in Paris,
and worked a number of jobs
(carpenter, electrician, doll painter!),
until he was "discovered" singing (unpaid) at a local cafe.
Dancing partner, Mistinguett...in the Folies Bergere.
They had more than a dancing relationship!
