Playlist for Sunday, July 6, 2014: Classic Disney!

Yup, it's Disney time again on 2 on the Aisle...but this time it's the classics!  From Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Cinderella to The Jungle Book and The Aristocats! Some of these songs are branded on my brain since childhood. One chorus and I'm back at age 8, on a Sunday night, watching, listening, and dancing to Disney's Wonderful World of Color on TV.  So, no, they're not Broadway, but they are beautifully musical.

In my research for this show, I found out that a lot of these movies weren't box office successes.  Pinocchio, with 2 Academy Awards and accolades a'plenty regarding its animation, was a disaster!  It only made money after its many re-releases.  Bambi had a similar reception: too dark, too scary, and man, did it irritate the hunters in the audience! And then of course, Bambi's mom had to die; that didn't win anybody over either! But all seem to have stood the test of time...and gained in popularity with new generations.

My favorite? The Jungle Book numbers....and of course the Work Song, from Cinderella ("Cinderelly, cinderelly, night and day, it's..."well, you get the picture!). Hope you share my enjoyment of these perennials!
