Playlist For Sunday, March 27, 2022: Old-ish! (Like Grand-ish, but Grey-er)

Old! Aging! Greying! Oh no, not me! Young, vibrant, and vertical...that's ME. And my address is Land O' Denial. WhoRUkidding Lane. NotMYwalker Cul-de-sac. I bike far and fast away from Old!

However...

Kander & Ebb's 70, Girls, 70...a 35 performance wonder from 1971.

And the cast,
which included Gil Lamb, Mildred Natwick, Hans Conried, Lucie Lancaster, Lillian Hayman, and Lillian Roth.

There are a LOT of fun Broadway tunes about Old. Growing into, pretending you're not, glad you ARE, forgetting you are, even (god forbid) accepting you are! All done with lovely (old) character actors, or at least ones of "a certain age." So I'm choosing OLD as our next 2OTA theme.

And it will not be DEPRESSING! I swear on my box of hair dye and LL Bean mom jeans! We'll keep it light and airy and positive and pithy. :)

Actually, it's all John from Pittsford's fault. He sent me a tune recorded by Saffire - The Uppity Blues Women, called "I'm Growing Older" and that inspired this Sunday's motif. So thanks to him, we're doing it ("Do We?"), and we'll have 70, Girls, 70, Pippin (with Andrea Martin in Irene Ryan's sandals), Fiddler, Gigi, Juno...old maybe, but still zippy and zesty.

Those Uppity Blues Women. Ageless! :)

So turn up your hearing aids, grab a fresh cuppa, cozy up with that afghan, and "grow old with me". But only for 2 hours. After that, it's back to ZUMBA and tango lessons and skateboarding, okay?
