Okay, so I've already had enough of winter. It's mid January, and my titration levels for cold and wind and what WAS that hitting me in the face when I walked out of Weggy World today? Diving ice-covered stingrays?...well, those levels were reached and exploded 10 hours after Christmas Day.
Nosireebob! For me, the sun, sand and wayward breezes of summer and/or tropically baked zones. However, since I seem to have no valises chock-full of unmarked bills lying around, I can't run away. Which means I have to have a healthy fantasy life. Big pretending. And lots of denial.
And that is my round about way of saying that this week's show will be about Heat Waves. We'll pretend it's July and sweaty and beachy, and that even now the pool boy approacheth with a tray of icy drinks (with little umbrellas) for our pleasure. We are parked at the "shallow end" of the pool, in an inflatable with a cup holder, sunglasses parked at the half-nose position, the better to see the pool boy with. We will hum along with Ethel and Forever Plaid and Lena and Tony D, feeling the warmth of summer. We will apply our metaphorical SPF to be on the safe side, but really really really love the hazy, the hot, the humid and the Broadway melodies to go with it.
So cut me some slack. When it's actually warm out there, and I start wishing for winter and wool sweaters, just slap me. Metaphorically, of course. Meanwhile, saving you a deck chair. On the aisle! :)
