Now that we've executed that damn groundhog for his lying ways, and made it (somehow) into Ides-like March, it's that time of year again, folks: Fundraising, Pledge Driving, Need the Dough Time.
Yes, this Sunday we'll be down on bended knee(s) begging for your hard earned, and trying not to be too annoying about it. Too late, right? Yup, it's difficult to plead for cash AND entertain, but tell that to Jerry Lewis. I remember those telethons I watched as a kid and I loved 'em!
That kind of entertainment I can't promise you, but we'll try to cram as much Broadway into the fundraising wrinkles as possible and remain upbeat, not cloying or desperate. Well, we'll try!
Meanwhile, I had a great time in Philly this past week, sampling some experimental theatre (one's children do expand one's perspectives, right?), great food, and seeing old friends (Who's like us? Damn few.) And speaking of Sondheim, seems like everybody's singing it these days. Cyrille Aimee, Judy Collins, whole jazz bands taking it every which-way. Can't say as I enjoy all the push-me, pull-you versions, but people are out there SAYING Sondheim, PLAYING Sondheim, so I guess I should get off my high horse (it's not that high, I live in upstate NY), shut up, sit on my hands, and go to my happy place. Not every version can be the original. But. Harrumph.
So that's it. I can't promise that this playlist will arrive in your ear canals unedited, but let's say MOST of it will. But give me a call and make a Jazz90.1 donation, will ya? Otherwise 2 On The Aisle won't be saving anybody a seat! XO
