Playlist For Sunday, November 6, 2016: Broadway Man Cave

Huzzah!  Raise your flagon, Me Hearties, to Broadway Men! This show is consumed with them. What kind of men? Well, men that got away, men you can't get with a gun, men you meet in Chicago or La Mancha or on the moon. Men you hate, men you love, men you want to marry or stick pins in, often at the same time. Good men, bad men, ordinary men, physically fit
men...SuperMen! There are hundreds (of men AND Broadway odes about them)!

But get this: A lot of these songs are sung by women, and no matter how obstreperous, lousy, or questionable their "male" behavior, these women still want 'em! Or want 'em back. But of course this is just Broadway. Not real life. Not real life at all.

Next week, I promise we'll give equal air time to the ladies...and no doubt a lot of THOSE tunes will be sung by men. Go figure. Meanwhile, revel in masculinity (the Great White Way kind, with tap shoes, buck and wings, and modulations), and enjoy a couple of hours in the Broadway Man Cave.
