Playlist For Sunday, February 11, 2024: Broadway Valentines (Take 1)

Okay, we've all heard the recent Phil (the infamous groundhog) Phorcast...and if we can believe his pronouncement, Spring will be arriving in about 14.5 hours. Otherwise, I'm suing that prognosticator of pronosticators. Getting us all hyped up for an early Spring and then not delivering? That would be absolutely unfair and heartbreaking, Phil.

Luckily, we have some hearts and flowers to distract us. It's Cupid's turn now, and he may have more oomph (and definitely more weapons) than a rodent with suspicious meteorology in his "quiver".

So let's celebrate LOVE. And we're going to do a double celebration, with 2 (count 'em, 2!) Valentine Editions. In Love (and a couple of OUT of Love) songs by the score. Sappy ballads, joyous proclamations, protestations, hopes, wishes, denials, vows...weeze got 'em! So I hope you like LOVE. It's here for 2 weeks!

That's going to include (but not be limited to) Nathan Lane, Marilyn Monroe, Elaine Stritch, Barbara Cook, Judy (of course), Gene, Ethel, and Doris. Because LOVE is Priority #1 in almost every Broadway musical. And almost every song ever. These Valentine deals write themselves.

So DO join me for Chapter 1 of our Broadway Valentine Edition. Chapter 2 will follow on apace on February 18...and both will offer just the right romantic soupcon (and well-targeted arrows)!
